The company’s name is an initialism of the first names of the company’s three founders: Bill Coleman, Ed Scott and Alfred Chuang. BEA’s core product lines include: Tuxedo – transaction-oriented middleware platform, WebLogic – enterprise infrastructure platform, and AquaLogic – a Service-Oriented Architecture platform. 

BEA was doing $2B in revenue and generating $400M in free cash flow, and in 2008 BEA was acquired by Oracle for $8.5B with the involvement of Carl Icahn and Larry Ellison.
